Incontinence, many people experience this.

Not everyone feels comfortable talking about urinary incontinence. Even adding pads to your weekly shopping list can feel overwhelming which is why purchasing online and discreetly from us can help.

With the following statics from “Continence Foundation of Australia” it easy to see why we should talk more about incontinence.

Urinary incontinence (poor bladder control) is a common condition affecting 1 in 3 women, 1 in 10 men and 1 in 5 children in Australia of all ages, and physical ability.

  • Do you rush to use the toilet?

  • Do you sometimes feel you have not completely emptied your bladder?

  • Are you frequently nervous because you think you might lose control of your bladder?

  • Do you sometimes leak before you get to the toilet?

  • Do you sometimes leak when you lift something heavy, sneeze, cough or laugh?

  • Do you sometimes leak when you exercise or play sport?

  • Do you sometimes leak when you change from a seated or lying position to a standing position?

  • Do you plan your daily routine around where the nearest toilet is?

Incontinence can have long-term physical and emotional impact; affecting self-esteem, motivation and independence.

Disposable incontinence pad statics.

Did you know that an average user of incontinence single use disposable pads uses around 1,000 pads each year? One pack of maxi pads can have the same amount of plastic as 5 plastic bags, never mind the plastic packaging that they come in?

10 years totals 10,000 single use disposable pads to landfill. That’s a lot of landfill!

Looking for sustainable management of incontinence?

Earth Sisters Fiji reusable cloth pads will eliminate this waste in a sustainable way, safe for both the user and the environment.

Reusable pads are just like disposable pads, they have a porous layer that wicks up fluids in order to prevent leaks. However, they are washed instead of tossed. This makes them cost efficient, healthier and eco-friendly pads and liners.

There are different levels and types of urinary incontinence and can occur in people of all ages and for a variety of reasons.

It is all about choosing the right absorbency for you.

Which pad or liner should I start with?

It’s good to take time to build up your supply, over time. This gives you a chance to see what is working well for you and what you need more of. We'd suggest starting with 2-4 pads in an absorbency you think will work for you.

Our pads come in liners, light, and moderate absorbency.

  • ·       Liners Light absorbency “Liners”. For comfort when you first notice signs of bladder weakness

  • ·       Light absorbency “small” pad:  If you experience light bladder leakage, like small dribbles or the occasional low-level sneeze pee

  • ·       Moderate absorbency pad” regular”:  If you would describe your incontinence as more than just the light leakage above

  • ·       Moderate absorbency pad “large”. If you would describe your incontinence as more than just the light leakage above and prefer a larger size pad.

Be the change our environment needs!

incontinence Q & A?

Will reusable pads show through clothing? Are they bulky?

No!  Thanks to lots of advances in fabric development, we think you'll find that reusable pads are trim and discreet.

The inside layer of our pads is a bamboo cotton fleece that is highly absorbent. You can feel confident wearing them,..

Do reusable pads smell?

Frequent pad changes are essential for odour control. Don't choose super absorbency pads and think you can simply wear it for longer!

Changing your pad regularly ensures that urine doesn't have the opportunity to break down and produce any smell. It's also a good idea to change frequently to prevent leaks.

How do you clean washable incontinence pads?

Wash with a mild laundry soap, rinse well and hang in sunlight will maintain the pad.

If you get a build up of odour, simple soak them in a tub of water with a tablespoon or so of baking soda for about 15 minutes.  This will neutralize the smell of urine. Wash and dry as usual.

How long can you wear reusable incontinence pads?

As with disposable pads, it really depends on the type of incontinence that you suffer with and how often you pass urine. We recommend that for light or mild bladder leakage you change the pads every 3 to 4 hours with light absorbency pads however moderate leaks may require more frequent changes with your moderate absorbency regular or larger pad.

Not to be used in circumstances that require “full” release support (i.e. adults diapers)
